At Long Last..

After this Friday, the renovations in our house is officially done. After the long long wait... YEAH!
Anyway, I've moved in since the 15th of last month... I'd like to officially thanks Aaron's good friends here - Andy, Ah 9, Faye and Dave for helping us to move our things to the new house. Thanks for being such a good sport, guys!
Well, anyway, the update on the new house:

After lighting and floors are done:

The hall and the dining area. We had a nice darker shade of brown at the dining area wall.

The study. We've christian this room the Mochi Room.. reason being that we chose the colour with inspiration from the Mochi IceCream we had in Sakae Sushi... lol

The masterbedroom.

Anna's room. Yepz.. we chose the same colour for our room.

The entrance to the master room bathroom. Nice bi-fold door eh..

Our shower area. Everyone who've seen them so far loves the rough surface tiles.

Our new shower head set. Having some problem with the one in the master bathroom though. The head couldn't stay in place in it's holder. Still waiting for Asia Excel to change it for us.

Aaron and Dave removed the yucky green film from the door and window.. Now, we'll just need to clean up the glass and replace a nice new film.

We've changed all the powerpoints and the switches in the house. Love these!!

Missing you... Mum and Dad...

I missed my mummy and daddy...

Haven't seen them for more than a month already.. It's all my fault really. Should have renew my passport earlier. As it turns out, it takes like a month plus to get my passport renewed over here in Singapore. That is why I couldn't cross the border to see Mum and Dad. And now there is so much to pack and settle before moving, I think I'll only be able to go back to see them after I've move in.. oh well... I miss you guys.. you take care okie.. Will be back soon..

1/4 Done and We're Broke..

Another long, busy and eventful week. A pocket busting week too. Both our bank accounts took such a beat that I've a feeling that it'll take years for them to recover. Nevertheless, we're happy, and I guess that's what that matters most...

First of all, an update on the house:

Ta-da!! They've finish laying the kitchen tiles.. Pretty pretty...

The bathroom tiles in the shower area. Hubby's so proud of them. Because he chose them himself.

Besides that, the aircon is up too. But i must say I was kind of disappointed with their work. It look so sloppishly done. Meeting Henry this coming Friday, will have to discuss with him about it.

Painting starts today.. can't wait to go there to have a look this evening!!

We've bought nearly everything that is needed for the house too. That's the reason for the BIG hole in our pockets.

The blue glass basin for the common bathroom. And the w.c (water closet) for both the bathrooms. On top of that, the stand for the glass basin and new water faucets for both the bathroom.

Our kitchen sink. We really love this! And we got it at quite a bargain too!!

Our hob by EF - Elba. Who would have known that stainless steel comes in different shades?? We find that this matches our Franke sink best!

Our Cuizino oven. Love the look.. and the price..

Our Samsung washer. Chose this model myself. Got my wish to have a frontloading washer.. Yes!! Besides that we got a Elba dryer too. No more struggling with the bamboo pole after washing! Goodbye smelly damp clothes! Hello crispy dry clothes!! Yum yum!!

And lastly, our most expensive buy:

Samsung 42" plasma tv! Heavenly...

We got all this from Asia Excel Marketing in IMM. Ray, the boss is a very nice guy, patient and friendly. We spent a whooping 6k in total here. Besides the above, we bought 2 sets of bathroom accessories, a mirror, 2 shower sets, 2 corner shelves, and a heater for Aaron's grandma. A big OUCH!!! from both of us.

We've also made our lighting purchase over the weekend. A total of $650 spent here. Got everything from Edison Lighting in Balestier, thanks to Ray's recommendations. Patrick, the in- charge is yet another nice guy. Friendly, and gave us lots of good advice. Will only be able to post the pictures of them when the lights is up though. I absolutely love the dining light we purchased. Can't wait for it to be hung up!

The only glich I guess we had the last week was from our sofa and dining table purchase. Don't really want to go into detail nor name anybody. But, we faced a really rude staff at Milan Furnitures. Things were settled eventually, but I was really unhappy with the way they deal with our problem when it could be handled amicably. Well, let's just say sarcasm and rudeness should never appear in the dictionary of customer service.

Oh.. and a Birthday wish to Anna. A year older as of 3rd of July, hopefully, a year wiser ya! We celebrated over the weekend staying at Conrad's, using the voucher i redeemed from StarHub. Had a great time.. Aaron's estatic with the fact that he doesn't have to drive all the way home after a late night out. He simply doesn't like driving, weird, for a guy.. Dave's so excited with all the chocolate cakes around him.. hmmm... come to think of it, the two guys seems to be having more fun that us girls...lol!! Boys...

Floor Tiles.

Went down to our new home last night and 3 quarter of our hall tiles are done.

The bases for the kitchen cabinets, washer and dryer are done too. Besides that, the gas pipe in the kitchen have been relocated.

We're a little worried as Henry had told us that the tiling works will be done by friday. There's still the kitchen tiles to be laid, half the toilet tiles and the curbs to be done. Guess we'll just have to keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best.

We've received the perspective drawings from Henry. We're quite please with them.

The feature wall in our hall. Aaron's quite pleased with the design. Simple yet stylish.

The kitchen cabinet. We've changed the location of the fridge since. We chose the colour combi of blue and white for the cabinet. As the tiles are grey in colour, have to make sure that the colours of the cabinet are brighter.

The writing table in our study. This looks a little different from what we initially discussed with Henry. I wanted cabinets below the table. Will need to talk to Henry about that.

The wardrobe in our bedroom. I've yet to decide what colour should it be.

The cabinet under the washbasin. The washbasin's from Ikea. Hollviken series and is large (and heavy!) with the length of 80cm. Aaron fell in love with it at first sight. And after searching high and low for something like that at other places, we couldn't find one as nice nor as big as this one. So we decided on this:

It was quite a headache to decide whether to have a vanity top with the basin or not. There is a big pipe right next to the washbasin. Therefore we couldn't have a solid top from wall to wall because of the pipe. Henry suggested to do the solid top right up to where the pipe is. I find that rather weird. After much consideration, we both decided to do away the solid top and have something simple like shown in Ikea. Only difference is that our cabinet will be the suspended type.

SUE

Aaron is a co-founder of an exploration group in Singapore known as the Singapore Urban Explorers. Do check them out at www.urban-explorer.net.

Anyway, yesterday the SUE had a booth at the exhibition organized by API (Asia Paranormal Investigators - www.api.sg).

Now, my hubby is a very 'interesting' person. And such an 'interesting ' person have to have a group of very 'interesting' friends as well. Where else can you find people with loud, bright hair with equally loud personality? Or that numbers as names and lovable characters mix so well? You get my drift... LOL.

I had a great time. Between all the Hard Gay's impersonations and especially with the special appearance of the SUE 'mascot'. Made out of a long 6 metre piece of black cloth and cleverly sewn together by Andy (yes.. me and Anna were awed.. I dun even know how to operate a sewing machine), this 'mascot' was a big hit amongst the young and old there! Do check out his popularity in the SUE website. It should be up soon.

The mascot is not made up of one person.. true to the SUE spirit, nearly everbody took turns making it's round.. Can anybody tell which is Aaron??

Speaking of Hard Gay, Aaron is totally smitten with Razor Ramon HG right now.. yoo-hoos and hooooooooooo~~~!! are so part of his vocabulary now... Anyway was just surfing around just now.. and it seems not only Aaron loves HG's style.. Many are starting to dress like him..

House Reno

It's been a long week...

Renovation of the house officially started last thursday.. Aaron and me have been bustling in and out everyday.

Here's some pictures of the house...

Before Thursday:

The hall.. as viewed from the entrance. That's Anna playing maid.. thanks to Aaron.. he poured one whole packet of salt and half a pack of a 2kg rice around the house on Monday night. It's believed to keep spirits away. When me and Anna made our way there on Wednesday noon.. the salt have turned into water (yucks!!!)..

Note the flooring.. Aaron termed them as 'bloody river'. He can't stand them. Most of the capentry in here are built in.. we're tearing all of them off.

The kitchen. Small and cozy. Hate the brown though.. off it goes!!

Our bedroom. Love the space.. Don't know why but the built in furnitures in this house is bulky and takes up too much space. To make them studier? Or simply just poor workmanship? Your guess is as good as mine. Too much wooden brown again.. so, off everything goes!!

The study room. We initially planned to keep the wardrobe and the built in table. Just change the doors and the drawers. But the insides are falling apart. And after talking to Henry, it is more worth spending money to build new ones than to work on the old ones. Well... off these goes too!!

Anna's room. Please make way for this gargantum piece of wood. Nuff said.

The bathrooms. First wooden brown, now dark blue?? Talk about difference in taste. Yup, we're changing these too.

Thursday:

Aaron, Dave, Anna and I purposely met up before our badminton session to see how the hacking have taken toll on the house. To Aaron's glee, his 'bloody river' no longer rules in the house.. instead it lies there tattered and torn.. The house looks like it a tornado just passed by.. everything was torned down and the whole place were in a big mess... We've never been happier..

Saturday:

Everything has been cleared by Friday. When we made our way there on Saturday morning, the tiles have arrived. Boy.. were we excited.

A big pile of sand now lies in the hall.

Talked to the air con man and the electrician. More money added into our budget.. but at the end of the day.. Aaron had a big smile on his face. So, despite a big hole in the pocket, I think he's happy.

Well, if all goes according to plan, the homogenous tiles in the living room and the kitchen tiles will be laid by mid week. Air con works starts this friday and paintings starts early next week. Stay tune..

Happy, Happy, Happy...

I'm overwhelmed... with excitement.. anticipation.. and worries.
Just spoke with our contractor, Henry, a couple of days ago, and he confirmed that the renovation will only be completed by end of July.
We have to evacuate our current premise by the 15th of next month... so where are we going to stay for the remaining two weeks?
Henry's eyes bulged when we told him the news. He looked so shocked that it was almost funny, had the situation not been so dire. He gave us a timeframe of 2 months in the beginning, then it was cut down to 6 weeks or so... now he have less then 4 weeks to complete everything!?!?!?!
We worked out a solution in the end.. should the renovation could not be completed by the 15th.. he'll empty two rooms for us to move into first...
I cannot imagine moving in amidst the reno work going on... but Henry assured us there'll only be installation of the build in cabinets and stuff by then.
Well, we don't have much choice now...
Despite that, anticipation is building everyday... The renovation work is starting next week.. and we'll be getting a perspective drawing of the house from Henry in a couple of days. We're also choosing the tiles and laminate for our floors soon too.
Finally... our home is taking shape..
Just keeping my fingers crossed that all will go well from here.. no more little suprises and glitches..

My Hubby

My hubby has the craziest sense of humour. He guffaws at the most unexpected stuffs. And he does the craziest things... Let me give you a few example.

1. He finds "The Juggernaut B****h" extremely funny. He'd watched it like a hundred and one times and each time he'd never stop laughing. Then he'd go look for more vids like this in the youtube and will spend the rest of the hour laughing his a** off..

2. He watched the Singapore Idol Auditions recently... and he fell madly in love with The Kung Fu Rapper. Now.. this is a more serious case compared to the Juggernaut B****h. He'd probably watched it a thousand and one times. Then he starts imitating Mr. Leo Teng Seng's dance moves and I swear I've heard him rap "Alright stop, collaborate and listen...." at least once a day..

3. He have a karang guni ringtone. He simply loves this ringtone, because it's loud.. you can probably hear it from as far as 2-3 metres away and because nobody would be crazy enough to have that ringtone. It rang once when we were in the esplanade after watching a piano recital. There we were.. in the quiet, refined hall when "KARANG GUNI...".... you get the picture..

4. The other day, Noel, our friend cum badminton buddy fell when playing a fast paced match.. when suddenly my hubby ran towards him and "crushed" him ala WWE style.. yup.. during the day, in the sports hall filled with courtfull of people...

I could go on.. he does at least a quirky stuff once a day...
Yes.. that's my hubby... the funniest, wackiest, quirkiest guy I've ever know..
I'm glad to have him..

Let me introduce you to the most adorable little girl I've seen...

This is Sarah, my gf Pearl's little precious. This was taken when she's just a mere 2 months or so. She's about 1/2 a year old now. I've yet to see her in person, but we'll be meeting face to face when she travels to Singapore from KL with her mum and dad end of this year to attend our wedding dinner. Can't wait to see her.. and her mum too.. I've not met Pearl since I left KL. That's nearly 11 years ago..

Our wedding is set on the 30th December this year. It'll be held at Chef Chan's. I'm impressed with it's modern chic chinois settings and Aaron's really impressed with the Chef's culinary skills.

I've not decided on anything else besides the venue so far. Will only focus on the wedding after we've both move into our new home.

Talking about our new home, we're finally going to step into an empty house this coming thursday. Yes! After a loooong wait and countless delays... we're officially going to kick start the planned renovation. Hopefully, by this time next month, I'll be blogging from our new home.
